Entrepreneur makes use of display stands

Display stands are often used by those keen to showcase their offerings to potential customers.

One individual to make use of such products is entrepreneur Nick Wall, who has launched a business named Tails that is focussed on pre-mixed cocktails, the Financial Times (FT) reports.

The 31-year-old has set up display stands in all four Selfridges stores across the UK, hoping to attract attention from shoppers and exploit the rise in demand for non-beer alcoholic drinks.

Mr Wall, who is 31 years old and used to be a chartered surveyor, said he wants his enterprise to be a "cool brand".

He added: "Big companies such as Diageo and Bacardi have recently launched pre-mixed ranges, but I don't think that is a problem because Tails aims to occupy a premium position within the market."

The businessman's firm, which may also make use of point of sale displays, offers high-quality, bar strength beverages that can be shaken with ice.

To begin with, Cosmopolitans, Mai Tais and Espresso Martinis are the drinks it is producing.

According to Mr Wall, sales at Selfridges have been strong and he hopes other upmarket stores will also take on his product. Meanwhile, eventually, he will target the big supermarkets.

According to the FT, the entrepreneur started the business with £200,000 in funding, some of which was from state grants.

He revealed he is uneasy about the cuts being made to business support as a result of the government's efforts to reduce the size of its fiscal deficit.

The Conservative/Liberal Democrat coalition is slashing spending in a number of austerity measures that will impact on the UK over coming months and years.

Mr Wall stated: "It is sad that the government is pulling funding from regional development agencies. I could not have set up Tails without them."

One of the ways firms can try to ensure business remains strong is by investing in marketing techniques such as point of sale displays.
